September beginnings
This is the beginning of my page for September. It's called "I-5". I-5 is the major interstate freeway running the length of California. In the spring it has beautiful wild flowers in the center divider. As you drive through the state you can see many of the crops grown in the Central San Joaquin Valley. There are many vineyards, hay fields, cottonfields, tomatoes, corn and thousands of orchards growing fruit and nuts of many kinds. What was once a dry wasteland is now productive farmland thanks to the canals and aquaducts crisscrossing the valley floor. This page is representational of all these things. It has been fun trying to duplicate the different crops to make them identifiable. I still need to finish the freeway, and add the corn, tomatoes and orchards.

What a fun piece Arline, it is going to look very cool once you get the fruit on there & don't forget the grapes LOL
The grapes are under the vines in the upper right corner. You just can't see them.
Colorful growth and abundance. What a wonderful theme and colors for your September page! -Karen

I love this idea and the way you're doing it !
A great celebration of the diversity of crops that comes from California...and the precious water that makes it possible.
I like the texture that you have given your different crops and the freeway. I can tell that you are having fun with this.
Your design is really lively and engaging! And a great expression of your appreciation for the unique beauty of your state!
Such fun!

Having driven up and down California's I-5 many times, I totally relate to this page... and love it. What a great way to "describe" a place and your feelings for it!!!
Thank you so much for the kind comments and encouragement on my journal pages. I just spent a few minutes looking at the pieces of yours I've missed and I'm so impressed. You do such beautiful work--your sense of color is wonderful! I hope I'm as good when I "grow up"! Thank you once again.
