Oct. page continued
Here is the third in progress picture of my October page. As you can see, the fire is larger and consuming the tree on the right. The cabin is half finished now. I used some clear plastic with orange marker on the back for the windows so they would seem to reflect the fire. More on this page when it is finished.

Wow Arline you are doing a fabulous job depicting the fires. This is completely amazing to me. How much thought you have given it to even make the windows reflect the fire. I cant wait to see the end result. Such a sad topic but such beauty too!
What a good job you are doing with October Arline. I'm sorry the fires have been so bad these last few years. Can't wait to see the finished piece.

Hello, Arline,
I made a mess of my original comment and therefore deleted it. (For one thing, I changed the log cabin into a "blog" cabin, and I did not like the rest of my text either.) Here goes again:
This page vividly tells a story, and it will be very beautiful when finished. Apart from the artistic illustration of the fire, the sky is just right, it looks quite frightening.
Will the log cabin get finished before the fire gets to it? Forgive the silly pun, and believe me that I am very much looking forward to the next instalment of the story.

Fantastic! Although the subject is horribly sad, you have captured the fire so well and I love the way the trees look. I am a big tree hugger, and can't imagine how sad it would be to see this type of destruction across acres and acres. Our area lost 1,000s of trees in an October snowstorm 2 years ago, and it still breaks my heart to see the trees that 'survived' are left just mangled and scrawny.
Arline, this page is just fantastic! Visually realistic and beautiful.
You've chosen a serious subject for this month, Arline... I, my parents and all four of my grandparents were born/raised in CA... my brother still lives there... so every time the news turns to fires in CA, I feel very sad. Your piece allows the sadness to come forward and be acknowledged. Thank you.
This is a powerful and incredibly beautiful piece, Arline. Fire is so devastating yet intensely fascinating, and I know the finished piece will reflect both of these properties.

It's amazing how something can be beautiful and so sad at the same time. You're doing a fabulous job with the beading and with the image you're representing, but I was also brokenhearted to see what the fires did this summer. When we have them in Eastern Washington we see smoke for weeks at a time and it makes you sadder every day.
Wonderful piece.
